See the Rugby World Cup on Sydney’s biggest screen

Rugby fans unable to get to France for this year’s World Cup could be forgiven for thinking they were at the games if they are watching it on a 20 metre wide screen with 15,000 watts of digital surround sound.

Sydney’s IMAX theatre and new web events promotion company Sticky Tickets have joined forces to screen 10 2007 World Cup Rugby games.

The Channel 10 coverage of the following games will be shown.

·         Australia v Wales – September 15

·         Australia v Fiji – September 23

·         Australia v Canada – September 29

·         All quarter finals – October 6, 7 and 8

·         All semi finals – October 14 and 15

·         2007 Rugby World Cup Final.

Sticky Tickets business development manager, Matt Freedman says IMAX Darling Harbour is the ultimate, safe, and fun Rugby World Cup venue. Up to 500 people will be able to enjoy each match. IMAX has the biggest screen in the Southern Hemisphere.

Tickets are on sale via Sticky Tickets – www.stickytickets.com.au. Prices range from $30 to $48 including booking fees.

Sticky Tickets is the first events portal of its kind in Australia. Individuals and organisations can register their event for free. The company securely processes credit card payments and deposits the money, minus a small booking fee based on ticket prices, into the required bank account.

Mr Freedman said it was a World Cup for a different code that was the impetus behind establishing the website.

He said the idea for the company came when business partner and mad football fan, Jay Gaibisso, booked out IMAX to watch the World Cup football match between Brazil and Australia.

“Jay was selling tickets to cover costs but trying to issue receipts and keep track of who was coming proved difficult and time consuming,” Mr Freedman said.

“He thought there had to be a better, simpler, way,” he said.

The FA Cup final was also screened at IMAX earlier this year.
